Nice news

for the Abbott family. Die a Little, published in the UK this fall, has been chosen one of The Times Christmas Books of 2008 by Marcel Berlins (hat tip to Ali). And her story "Cheers" (Storyglossia) has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Forgive the Mother love here.

Nothing to forgive, it's a very good book.

There's another author here called Laura Wilson who covers similar ground to Megan --may be worth you becoming aquinted with

her covers aren't as good though!

Thanks, Gordon. I'll look into LW. I think I've run into the name before.

Nothing wrong with Mother love. I've recently acquired Your daughter's three novels and threw them into the TBR pile.
Also, by all means link to my Shell Scott post Friday.

Very good news indeed. I haven't read Die a Little yet, but after reading The Song Is You, I'm certain it's as great a read. You have every right to be a proud Mom... Congrats!

Many thanks.

Hello Patti. Well done to your daughter, I shall be ordering the book tomorrow morning. I noticed that you didn't give a link, so I shall try (you are welcome to edit the comment if my link gets damaged or doesn't work). The starting point is:
www.timesonline.co.uk
from which you select "Arts&Ents" near the top and there is a box a bit furtehr down pointing to the selection of books. The full link is at:
entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article5250881.ece
and she is listed first -- hurray!

Nothing to apologize for, and kudos to Megan. This dad just got good news from his daughter, and I'm happy to see others doing well, too.

pattinase (abbott) said...

Dana-and what good news did you get?

pattinase (abbott) said...

Todd-since I have given myself over to writing novels that will never get published, it will not happen.

No matter how old they are, Mothers are always proud of their children's accomplishments. Congrats to Megan!

My daughter received a full, four-year tuition scholarship to Pitt (yes, THAT Pitt, home of the Cathedral of Learning) over the weekend. She's also in the running for the Chancellor's Scholarshp, which would include room and board. She still has other schools to hear from, but this is a sweet position to be in right now.

Oh, Dana, that is great news! Academic scholarships are very hard to come by. Please give her my congrats. And to you, too.
