Jerry Lewis

I have never been a big Jerry Lewis fan, but after watching the doc this week, I almost get it based on this one clip. But still remain clueless about why false teeth and bad haircuts are funny.

What about you?

I liked his first few solo movies but his later stuff(from CINDERFELLA on)is something only a Frenchman can appreciate.

He had him moments as a comedian, but his repellent personality and ego overwhelms all that. I find him annoying and a little bit sad.

KING OF COMEDY pretty much caught him, I think.

They're not funny. You were right all along.

The only Martin and Lewis movie I can remember liking was ARTISTS AND MODELS. Shirley MacLaine is adorable in this one. Dorothy Malone is her usual heated self.

Of course I haven't seen it in many MANY years, so it's charm might have quailed by now. :)

I could never tolerate Dean Martin in any way shape or form, so whenever I saw one of the movies it was usually because a friend wanted to go.

Love that "heated self." It's right on the nose. Did like Dean in Rio Bravo. But not much else.

Jerry Lewis never did anything for me--and, at this late date, I suppose he never will.

Ah well, my loss is France's gain, je suppose.

Jerry Lewis and Benny Hill...they may be fine entertainers but they're not my kind of entertainers.

Never got Benny Hill either.

KING OF COMEDY was a great movie, but not at all typical of Lewis' shtick. The rest of his career left me cold.

Oh, you're right Mike. KING OF COMEDY was a pretty good, though very atypical, outing. Yes. Good movie. I'd forgotten.
