Chuckie, The Flying Squirrel

This was the hit of Christmas at our house, the flying squirrel. My grandson has been wanting one for months and his magical aunt found him one. Chuckie was never far from his hands. Go figure. From car washes at two, to flying squirrels at four.

What made your Christmas sparkle?

My grandson gave a pen that says "Grandpa", even though I am not Grandpa to him. (The kids all call me "Pop".) He was very proud that he picked it out all by himself.

My wife never knows what to give me, but always comes through. This year, she decided to give me bacon. (One of the many reasons why I love her.)

Now who wouldn't like bacon.

I have to say that is pretty creepy looking. But then, I'm not four.

Otherwise, nothing much positive here as we're in the middle of a blizzard, with 30 mph winds blowing the snow straight across.

I'm just glad we don't have to go out until it all goes away.

Glad you guys had a good one.

PS - A friend's big hit with her 15 year old grandson was a marshmallow shooter. He discovered if you leave the marshmallows outside to freeze it hurts more when you shoot people in the butt.

Megan got home just as it started this morning. Whew!
His other grandfather gave him that last year. But the marshmellows always stuck and he lost interest quickly. Three might be too young for guns. Fifteen maybe not.

So that's a big bat wearing a squirrel costume? Weird.

My goodies will be revealed in tomorrow's New Arrivals post, but n addition to that stuff, I got a new hand-held shower head (one of the things this place lacked) and several pair of warm socks. If that doesn't sound exciting, remember, I'm the guy from SoCal who wore shorts, a T-shirt and loafers with no socks for the last 20 years.

Patti - Oh, this is great!! Thanks for sharing! I just love it that kids get fascinated with things at different ages. At four, my daughter began to be fascinated by dinosaurs...

I might have some bad dreams tonight. That's freaky! But cool too.

There is nothing better than a pair of warm socks. Dinosaurs continue to also delight him.
And yes, bad dreams are a definite possibility.

From Grandpa Chuck, I don't know what to think of an antomically correct flying squirrel named Chuckie. I don't know whether to feel complimented or not. Probably and hopefully neither.

I found a definite resemblance.

Having Patrick and Katie home for the holidays is the best present we could ask for.

pattinase (abbott) said...

Agreed. And wait till they have a little one.

Rick, it's more a slightly stylized actual flying squirrel. That's pretty much what those bat analogs look like.

Evolution is a busy process.

Is this for real? I've never seen anything like it. Will this make a good pet? Jeez. It looks like a little human body draped in white and with a squirrel head. Kind of creepy. But, cute. Yeah, it's cute. When it's not flying. :)

It's plastic and about eight inches tall. He looks better from the other side.
